With two episodes of season 7 left on The Walking Dead, let’s take a look back at last week’s “The Other Side” ahead of this week’s “Something They Need.”

So far this season on The Walking Dead, every episode has been building toward the big battle royale, All Out War. Episode 714, “The Other Side,” took us back to the Hilltop to check in with Maggie and Sasha as the Saviors came for a visit.

The timelines are now starting to sync up. We had already seen Sasha and Rosita’s meeting at the end of “Bury Me Here” only now we had a chance to see what was going on leading up to that moment, and what happened afterward.

But before we get to what happened with Sasha and Rosita, let’s talk about everything else you need to know about “The Other Side.”

Maggie and Jesus had a chance to talk, and he confided to her that he’s happy to be part of a group, and he also told her that he is gay. Maggie tried to connect with Daryl, but at that point he hadn’t been ready to talk to her yet.

Then the Saviors arrived at the Hilltop. They were early, and that’s because they were out looking for Daryl, who went to hide in a storeroom with Maggie. They were almost discovered but Enid swooped in and saved the day. However, in that time they had together Daryl had a chance to apologize to Maggie for what happened to Glenn, and Maggie was finally able to tell him that it was not his fault.

Simon and Gregory had a meeting of the minds while the Saviors take a quick look around. Gregory is afraid of an uprising, and Simon offers his assistance to the cowardly dictator. Gregory gets a gate pass to the Sanctuary for use whenever he needs it, but the good will is short lived because the real reason for the visit was for Simon to pick up Dr. Carson and take him back to the Sanctuary.

One of the biggest storylines of the episode was the departure of Sasha and Rosita for the Sanctuary with a plan to take out Negan. After all of their surreptitious planning and plotting, they took the Saviors’ arrival at the Hilltop as a sign and they left. Along the way on their trip to the Sanctuary, the two women tried to remain civil, and eventually they had a meeting of the minds. However, despite the shared desire to kill Negan, Sasha locked Rosita outside the Sanctuary gate and went inside alone, leaving Rosita with the mysterious shadowy figure in the distance.

Now we know that Eugene isn’t planning on leaving the Sanctuary, Gregory is riding a new power trip, Sasha is somewhere inside the Sanctuary, and Rosita is outside with the Shadow Man.

Next up on The Walking Dead: “Something They Need.”
