Watching the Alexandrians use their guns on the Walkers was almost painful given how badly they need those bullets. What were they thinking?

Given how much time Rick and his group have spent trying to find guns, and given the shortage of ammunition ahead of the war, seeing the Alexandrians use so much ammo on the Walkers was a bit cringeworthy.

When Eugene was around, it might have been a lot easier to manufacture bullets. Rick and Michonne found plenty of spent bullet casings at the carnival along with the guns they were used with, so imagine the arsenal the Alexandrians would have ahead of the All Out War. But Eugene isn’t there, and they don’t have an endless supply of bullets. That means they need to conserve

However, in the middle of the confrontation with the women of the Oceanside community, a small herd of Walkers showed up and everyone started shooting. Some members of both groups used knives, but the majority were using guns, including Enid, who was using a gun on the show for the first time.

But why were they shooting the guns at Walkers in the first place? It was bad enough wasting explosives, because not only is that wasting something that could be used on the Saviors, but triggering an explosion could also lead to unwanted attention from both Walkers and the Saviors. Doesn’t Rick know that these women are hiding from Negan? Sheesh.

The most egregious thing was wasting the bullets on Walkers. There were enough people to kill the Walkers with knives. Using the guns not only wastes bullets (some Walkers got two to three bullets each) but it causes more attention to be drawn to this secluded area.

Rick is getting ready for a war, so wasting bullets on Walkers is ridiculous. And now that so much noise has been coming from the area, Rick could be leading other people (Walkers and humans alike) into the safe zone, only now the women have no way of defending their land.

I feel a bit curmudgeonly saying this, but hopefully Rick doesn’t need more ammunition in the big battle. That’ll teach him to waste bullets like that. (And get off my lawn, you pesky kids!)
