Danay Garcia Celebrates National Theater Day with Memory
By Nir Regev
Fear the Walking Dead’s Danay Garcia celebrated National Theater Day this week, sharing a memory from her own theater past. Recalling Electra in Orestia.
We know her as Luciana now, but theatergoers will remember Danay Garcia as Electra in Orestia by the Greek playwright Aeschylus. The loyal leader of La Colonia and mesmerizing love interest of protagonist Nick Clark has more than a few cards in her acting sleeve. Garcia was once delighting audiences in Los Angeles in a 2012 reproduction of Orestia directed by Lucas Thanos.
The show ran at the Hudson Backstage Theatre in Santa Monica back in early December 2012. Garcia was just a few years removed from her breakout role as Sofia Lugo in Prison Break at the time. She used the #myhome on Twitter, illuminating the experience of acting in front of a live crowd, the thrill of it.

The Oresteia
was a trilogy of plays by playwright Aeschylus, Director Lucas Thanos did the translating honors for the play to see a resurgence in Los Angeles. It’s clear the role of Electra was quite sentimental to Garcia and no doubt challenging. As 90 minutes in front of a live audience with elite expectations of a classic play would be. It was another piece of the puzzle to making Danay Garcia the actress she is today.
