Going to war: Review of The Walking Dead season 7 finale
By Adam Carlson
Overall Impression of 716
There was a lot to love about the season 7 finale of The Walking Dead. Seeing the groups come together to fight against Negan and The Saviors was amazing and the final scene with Maggie’s voiceover talking about banding together and fighting as one was powerful and rewarding.

However, that doesn’t mean the episode wasn’t flawed. The scenes where the flashbacks or alternate realities were shown involving Abraham and Sasha were very weak and broke up what could have been an episode as powerful as the season 7 premiere.
While it was great to see Abraham again and it was a nice sendoff for Sasha, the focus of this episode should have been the war. People haven’t forgotten how much Abraham meant to her, so it seemed forced and awkward in places.
The final half hour was beautiful. Intensity as Jadis held Rick hostage was culminated in another great Negan speech. Things seemed very dark for Rick once again, but then his friends from The Kingdom and The Hilltop arrived to turn the tide and give back hope once again.
This will all set up the All Out War for season 8. It should be one of the bloodiest and most intense series of episodes yet, giving hope that the steam The Walking Dead has at this point will not be lost.
