The Walking Dead: Andrew Lincoln wants to beam up on Star Trek
It’s no secret that The Walking Dead cast is sad to see Sonequa Martin-Green’s departure, but now Andrew Lincoln wants to appear on Star Trek.
The Walking Dead has risen in popularity to such an extent over the years that it truly rivals the Star Trek fandom. It’s no wonder, then, that The Walking Dead cast was excited for the amazing opportunity Sonequa Martin-Green has as she leaves the world of the undead and heads into deep space on the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery.
Evidently there are a few Trekkies on The Walking Dead. When referring to the epic battle during the show’s season finale, Ross Marquand drew a comparison between The Walking Dead and Star Trek in a segment from Sunday’s Talking Dead: “It’s as if the Klingons, Romulans, Vulcans and the Federation have all come together to fight the Borg.” The Borg, of course, would be the Saviors while the Klingons, Romulans, Vulcans, and the Federation would be the Alexandrians, Hilltoppers, the Kingdom and Oceanside (kind of).
But the link between the two shows goes beyond references. Andrew Lincoln isn’t ready to say goodbye to Martin-Green, and he told Variety that he wants to make an appearance on the new show:
"She’s an incredible personality with incredible grace and strength and tenacity. She’s a very impressive woman. She will be leading that starship with the same class and fortitude. That is going to be one happy spaceship. I’d love to beam myself up at some point in some kind of Greg Nicotero special effects makeup."
Lincoln wouldn’t say anything other than “no spoilers” when asked if he’d actually make an appearance.
