2) Shane Betrays Rick
One of the greatest scenes in the history of The Walking Dead. A true game changer. The night where one man had to go. Rick or Shane. Shane convinces Rick to go with him to a secluded area where he then points a gun at Rick. Shane tells him Lori and Carl will get over losing him, and they’ll be just as happy without him. The struggle had been building up nonstop, between Shane second guessing Rick’s leadership decisions and wanting Lori to be with him.
Shane could never get over Rick ending up still alive and taking back what’s his. Namely his wife and son. Shane wanted Lori to love him and adopt Carl as his own, a project he was in the process of accomplishing. When Rick showed up, good as new. It was a long spiral down, until Shane finally decided to make an attempt on Rick’s life in cold blood. To Shane’s surprise, Rick manages to end Shane’s life with a knife he had been secretly concealing. Telling Shane “You made me do this”.
The episode where “this isn’t a democracy anymore” was born on The Walking Dead. The best Rick Grimes.
