Top 10 Walking Dead Betrayals: From Shane to Jadis, We Look Back
By Nir Regev
1) Jadis Betrays Rick
The moment that gave that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach. Where it looked like Negan and the saviors were about to do just what they had done in the season 6 finale/ season 7 premier all over again. A reboot if you will of Rick realizing he’s outnumbered and outgunned. Only even worse than the first time, the realization that everything Rick and the group had been working for was about to be all for nothing. One mistake ending an entire plan. We recently looked Jadis’ spectacular betrayal as the highlight of the season 7 finale.
It came as a complete surprise. Sure, Jadis and the Scavengers did not exactly give the impression of being passionate about eliminating the Saviors or even necessarily loyal. However, it looked like it was all business to them and Rick and Jadis shook hands on it. Who knew they were so business-oriented they would offer their services to a more lucrative bidder in Negan?
Jadis pointing that gun at Rick signaled not only the end of the rebellion but hope itself being squashed. Harking back to Negan’s words at the end of season 6 about Rick, ‘thinking he knew everything but not really knowing anything about the world’.
Luckily for Rick and the gang, Sasha’s diversion combined with Hilltop and the Kingdom showing up in time saved everything from falling apart in a single instant. Just shows you never know what will happen on The Walking Dead or in life from one minute to the next.
