4) Dwight Betrays Daryl
No good deed goes unpunished. Daryl is out recruiting for new survivors when he comes across Sherry and Tina who believe him to be with the saviors. Then Dwight knocks him out. Despite escaping from their grasp, he decides to go back and help the trio after noticing a cooler of insulin. Indicating one of the three (Tina) is diabetic. Daryl can’t handle the guilt and goes back, rescuing the trio from meeting their fate at the hand of the saviors. Though Tina ends up not making it after all, Dwight and Sherry do.
Daryl then asks Dwight three questions before telling him about the Alexandria community. Satisfied with Dwight’s response he invites the surviving pair to come stay in the community. They agree and it appears Alexandria just got its latest two recruits until…. Dwight betrays Daryl, points a gun at him, and takes his cross bow and motorcycle. Sherry leaves along with Dwight while his apology to Daryl falls on deaf ears. Daryl responds with a crisp, “You’re gonna be” to Dwight’s earnest apology.
Later on, Dwight would end up using Daryl’s cross bow on Denise. Daryl showing mercy on Dwight would lead to a chain reaction of events on The Walking Dead. Including ones that lead to Rick’s group being captured by the Saviors with Abraham and Glenn losing their lives. The Butterfly Effect.
