This season of The Walking Dead opened the floodgates of despicable characters. The real question is: Who’s THE WORST of them all?

It’s a tough question, one I find myself asking at the conclusion of every season of The Walking Dead: Who is the worst?

More than any other season of Walking Dead we’ve seen, we were graced with a litany of despicable characters. Some were rotten from the beginning, others proved how rotten they were just as we thought they were good, and some just came out of left field with their rottenness.

And therein lies my problem: The field is just so damned big, I’m not sure who really deserves the crown!

But, the only way to tackle this problem is to lay out each of our candidates and the cases against them.

Starting with…

David

Yeah, we’re starting off on the right foot with this one.

In a group like The Saviors, it’s tough to find someone who really stands out as a scumbag, yet, David pulled it off.

From the moment we first met him, David proved to be a creep amongst an army of thugs and killers. As The Saviors were making their first collection from Alexandria, David made his presence felt.

Like some kind of perverted troll, he attempted to confiscate Enid’s signal balloons, demanding she beg him to give them back; A sickening smile on his face as she complied, followed a stroke of her cheek which would make your skin crawl. That was our first glimpse into how much a slime David could be.

Yet, this is not David’s only highlight. As Rick and Aaron returned with a cache of weapons in the mid-season finale, “Hearts Still Beating”, David found the unkind note left behind by the guns’ original owner. Perturbed by the note’s content, and assuming it was written by Rick or Aaron, David proceeded to pummel poor Aaron, knowing neither he nor Rick could stop him. On top of being a creep, he’s a bully, too.

Wait. On top of being a bully, David is still a creep.

As if David couldn’t get bad enough, he manages to outdo himself. …Hooray.

In “Something They Need”, as Sasha was a captive of The Saviors, David paid her a visit. While Sasha asked him for some water, David, claiming that he would be violating rules doing so, asked for a favor in return: Sex.

Not surprisingly, Sasha refused; However, David, ever the persistent cockroach, attempted to simply take what he wanted from Sasha. How does one outdo being a creep and a thug? By being a rapist, that’s how.

The Walking Dead has provided us with many a repugnant character, but, not many like David. He gives us a glimpse into what things would have been like for The Group had Randall’s cohorts found Hershel’s farm in season two.

David is a violent thug, who feels more than comfortable beating up people when he knows he can do so with impunity. Worse still, while Dave (What an awful coincidence) and Tony certainly wanted to rape people, we watched as David nearly succeeded. A creep through and through, he shows just how awful bad people can be when they think they can do whatever they want.
