The Walking Dead: Jeffrey Dean Morgan helps with restoration project
Thought he might play a notorious villain on The Walking Dead, Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s philanthropic side show’s the actor’s soft side.
While Negan has built an entire community at the Sanctuary on The Walking Dead, actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan is helping to make his own community a better place as he and his wife work to raise money and awareness for a children’s services organization in Rhinebeck, New York.
Morgan and his actress wife Hilarie Burton are residents of Dutchess County, where they live on a farm with their son. Morgan and Ant-Man’s Paul Rudd purchased Samuel Sweets Shop in Rhinebeck, making Morgan and his wife frequent visitors in Rhinebeck. When they discovered that the building that houses Astor Services for Children & Families was in desperate need of restoration, Morgan and Burton jumped into action.
Astor’s residential wing needs improvement to match the rest of the facility, which was remodeled earlier. According to the Daily Freeman, Astor provides “children’s mental health services, child welfare services, and early childhood development services” and it provides services for children and families in the Mid-Hudson Valley and Bronx areas.
Using their visibility in the neighborhood, both as celebrities and respected members of the Rhinebeck business community, Morgan and Burton found ways to get the community involved to raise money and find volunteers to help with the work.
