#4 – The cast is too big

“Your world’s about to get a whole lot bigger.” Jesus definitely wasn’t lying to Rick and the people of Alexandria when he said that line. Since then, they have been introduced to The Hilltop, The Saviors, The Kingdom, Oceanside, and The Scavengers.

For so many different characters and communities to be introduced in such a short time frame, it can be difficult for fans to keep up with all the new faces or even develop any kind of feelings for these individuals.

Much of this has to do with knowing the core group for so long. For every interesting character like King Ezekiel, Jerry, Jadis, or Gregory there are numerous ones that get pushed into the background to eventually be used as pawns in the war against The Saviors and fans don’t have the desire to get to know this redshirts.

Casual fans of the show won’t know the difference between Tamiel and Cyndie by name, which is a shame since they are both characters who have been name dropped on the show several times. However, with so much else to focus on and how fast some of these characters die, it’s hard to blame viewers for not getting too invested in them.
