Rick is ready to lose it all in The Walking Dead season 8
By Sonya Iryna
The opening shots of All Out War have been fired. According to Scott Gimple when The Walking Dead season 8 kicks off Rick will be ready to risk it all, even his own life, to bring down Negan and the Saviors for good.
In an interview with TVLine The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple talked about Rick’s mindset when the show picks up again in the fall. He said that Rick will continue to have the fighting spirit that fans saw in the Season 7 finale when he told Negan that he and the Saviors were already dead.
The Ricktator will be back and more fierce than fans have seen before. According to Gimple Rick is ready to lose Michonne, Carl, Judith and anyone else if it means toppling Negan’s reign of terror. He’s even ready to die himself if that’s what it takes.
Rick knows that now he and the rest of Team Family are fighting for a shot at a real future. In the past they’ve just been fighting to survive. But now that there are other communities that are thriving Rick for the first time can see a real future for Carl, Judith, Maggie’s baby and all of the next generation.
But that future will only be secure if Negan and The Saviors are dealt with once and for all. So when The Walking Dead season 8 begins Rick isn’t going to waste any time striking hard at Negan again. The battle of Alexandria may not have gone the way Rick intended. But Team Family along with The Hilltop and The Kingdom sent Negan and The Saviors running back to The Sanctuary.
Scott Gimple Talks About Season 8
Talking with TVLine Scott Gimple has this to say about Rick’s mindset when The Walking Dead returns:
"“Rick will suffer any loss, even his own self, to give his people and other people the life that they should live, where the world belongs to all of them and not just one person. A real life.“That’s the only choice. So he’s willing to face the losses.”"
What To Expect in Season 8
