“The Alien”

Last year, we got a tiny glimpse into Rick’s family during the outbreak. No, not Lori or Carl, but, Rick’s younger brother, Jeff, via the web-exclusive comic, “The Alien”.

The story follows Jeff in Barcelona, Spain, as the eponymous “Alien”, desperately trying to stay alive and return to the United States.

Well, what if we saw that…as a webisode?

I would love to not only see the early stages of the outbreak, but, the zombie apocalypse as it occurred on the other side of the ocean, and most of all, seeing someone who, by association, we care about, but, don’t yet know.

Who is Jeff? What is he like? What’s his relationship with Rick like? For people like me who haven’t read “The Alien” yet, or show only fans, via Jeff, we could get not only an introduction to him, but a new glimpse into Rick, Lori, and Carl.

I feel like “The Alien” would be a very fun and unique little side road of The Walking Dead. With it set in Spain and at the beginning of the apocalypse, it would feel like something of a strange crossroads between both Walking Dead series.

If they really wanted to play with us, AMC could make “The Alien” part of a small series of webisodes, starting with Jeff in Barcelona before the outbreak. Since we didn’t get much of the subtle part of the outbreak in Fear The Walking Dead, it would be nice to get little clues of what’s going on before Jeff realizes what’s happening.

Much like with “The Carnival Of Doom”, I feel “The Alien” could give us some much needed zombie horror. Being this early in the apocalypse, the walkers, even one of them, becomes a much bigger threat. Suddenly, even if only briefly, once again the scariest thing in the zombie apocalypse is a zombie.

Now, truth be told, while I haven’t read “The Alien”, I have, unfortunately, been made aware of how it ends. I won’t spoil it, but, for those in the know, wouldn’t it be interesting if the live-action version had a different ending? I certainly think it would.

But, what do you think? Do you think AMC should make these ideas into webisodes? Do you think they do something else as webisodes? Let me know in the comments!
