Production has begun on season 8 of The Walking Dead and we now know that Greg Nicotero will be behind the camera on episode 801.

Greg Nicotero is the Renaissance Man of The Walking Dead. From designing some of the most fantastic Walkers and special effects, to serving as an executive producer, Nicotero does it all. He’s also responsible for directing some of the biggest episodes of the series, and now we learn that Nicotero will be behind the camera for episode 801, which also happens to be the 100th episode of The Walking Dead.

Nicotero directed the controversial season 7 premiere, “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be,” along with several other episodes of the season including “The Well,” the midseason premiere “Rock in the Road,” “Say Yes,” and the season finale “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life.” Episode 801 will mark Nicotero’s 21st turn as director, and it goes without saying that fans can expect big things when he’s in the director’s chair.

Season 7 was a roller coaster of emotion that saw the departure of fan favorites Glenn (Steven Yeun), Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Greene) while Eugene may have crossed over to the dark side. Negan thought he was in control but Rick proved that even with the Scavengers’ betrayal, he’s more powerful than Negan gave him credit for.
