#3. What’s in a name?

Nick Hall on Facebook: “Where did Negan find the name Lucille?”

It’s shocking to me how many of the questions we get are about Negan. However, when you’re the fresh-faced bad guy on the show and you can keep people entertained with cutting-edge humor and a wicked lean, that will happen.

Of course, Negan wouldn’t be Negan on the show if he didn’t have Lucille with him. The barbed wire baseball bat has the name ‘Lucille’, but many fans who only watch the show haven’t found out yet why the instrument of cranial destruction was given that name.

In IMAGE+ magazine, there has been a comic mini-series called Here’s Negan. In that story, the history of Negan is revealed, including his past job, family, and location when the zombie apocalypse started.

It is there that the origin of Lucille is shown, as he names the bat after his wife who died of cancer and then came back to attack him on her hospital bed. That is why the object is so important to him and he brings it everywhere he goes.

#4. The changing of the guard

Season 7 of The Walking Dead marked some big transitions for the television show. Not only did Negan explode onto the scene, but Rick Grimes got broken down into a shell of the man that fans have known for several seasons.

But there were also changes behind the scenes that went under the radar in the midst of the big cliffhanger. One of the notable ones involved the costume designer for show, which was changed out for season 7.

Eulyn Womble was featured in many great behind-the-scenes videos for AMC showing some of iconic costumes from the program as well as what went into creating some of the great looks for humans and walkers.

Taking over for her for the season 7 premiere  is Elaine Motalvo, who worked on shows like Big Time Rush, Ned’s Declassified Guide, and Remixed along with films such as Boogeyman 2, Popstar, and Real Women Have Curves.

Eulyn did a wonderful job, but Elaine took over and did a fantastic job as well. Both these costume designers are extremely talented, and there shouldn’t be any significant change to the program because of the new face in charge.
