Norman Reedus is definitely on board for The Boondock Saints 3 movie, but will he be able to find time for The Boondock Saints TV show while still appearing on The Walking Dead?

The Walking Dead cast often participate in other projects around the filming of The Walking Dead. The last few seasons of the show have featured a lot of bottle episodes which free up the other cast members from filming. That makes it easy for them to appear in other movies and TV shows.

Norman Reedus has appeared in several movies while still playing fan favorite Daryl Dixon on the show. And he has his own series, Ride With Norman Reedus, on AMC which will be airing season 2 soon. So it’s definitely possible that he could fit in a few appearances on newly announced The Boondock Saints: Origins TV show.

Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery are both starring the third The Boondock Saints film. Although no release date has been confirmed for the highly anticipated third film featuring the McManus brothers it is in the works currently. The TV show is still getting up and running. But Boondock Saints creator Troy Duffy has launched a fan funded campaign to get the series off the ground.

CinemaBlend reports that the production team had this to say about Norman Reedus appearing in the TV show:

"“Similar to how the Batman franchise has multiple versions and iterations of the caped crusader, if the 1st and 2nd film were the equivalent of Tim Burton’s version of Batman with Michael Keaton, The Boondock Saints: Origins will be its own stand-alone reboot of the franchise. The Christopher Nolan with Christian Bale version, if you will pardon the analogy. Norman and Sean absolutely will be back for the 3rd film and are aware of this television reboot of the brand. And who knows… maybe they pop by from time to time in the TV Series. Sometimes, good things do come on small(er) screens.”"

Does This Mean Daryl Won’t Make It Out Of Season 8?

No character is ever 100% safe on The Walking Dead. Any of the characters could be killed off at any point despite their popularity with fans. But since the character of Daryl Dixon isn’t in the comics his story arc is wide open and has no canon to follow.

Daryl didn’t have a major arc in season 7 of The Walking Dead. But now that Rick and the other survivors are throwing everything they have at Negan in order to bring him down it’s safe to assume that Daryl will be a big part of season 8.  So don’t worry Daryl fans, he’s probably safe for at least one more season of The Walking Dead.

**UPDATE on May 6, 2017** Sean Patrick Flanery recently clarified that neither he or Reedus are in any way involved with the Boondock Saints TV show.
