Jeffrey Dean Morgan takes home a Gold Popcorn statue with a big win at the newly refurbished 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards.

The MTV Movie and TV Awards used to just be the MTV Movie Awards, but with so much great television these days they expanded the show to include television. Not only that, the acting categories were gender neutral for the first time in awards show history. As such, Emma Watson (Beauty and the Beast) was the winner for the Best Actor award among male and female nominees.

The Walking Dead’s own Jeffrey Dean Morgan represented at the MTV Movie and TV Awards with a win in the Best Villain Award category. Morgan was up against fierce competition for the award, facing off against Allison Williams (Get Out), the Demogorgon (Stranger Things), Jared Leto (Suicide Squad) and Wes Bentley (American Horror Story). In the end, it was Negan himself who pummeled the competition.

Sadly, Morgan wasn’t able to get away from The Walking Dead set to accept the award so he thanked fans via Twitter. And he was really excited about it.

This is the second award that Morgan has received for his performance as Negan. Previously, Morgan was recognized for his guest role on The Walking Dead by the Critics Choice Association.

Though the show is highly touted by critics, The Walking Dead hasn’t received much love from awards shows, so every win is something to celebrate.
