8) Sherry and Dwight
Dwight made every sacrifice to protect Sherry at the expense of his own life. Permanent scarring of his face, allowing Negan to steal Sherry away as his own wife, working for the man who did it all… Having to endure that pain of seeing the love of your life with someone else every minute of every day. Yet despite it all, Sherry left the Sanctuary premises quite abruptly freeing Dwight’s protege Daryl in the process.
Both making Dwight look bad, putting him into an impossible situation with Negan and the Saviors and finally blaming Dwight for all of it. When Dwight goes back to the house they discussed running off to originally, he discovers a letter. A breakup note for a relationship already on the rocks. Stating that it was basically Dwight’s fault for going through it all, though she put him in that position. He was ‘no longer the man she married’.
Dwight blamed himself for Sherry leaving. Now in some perhaps misguided belief, Dwight has faith eliminating Negan will somehow bring her back, or more likely at least make him feel better.
