5) The Governor and Andrea

From the moment she first saw The Governor, Andrea was absolutely intoxicated with the aura surrounding him and the town he built. She would make Woodbury her new home and was even able to get The Governor’s real name Phillip out of him. An honor few receive. Philip was more than happy with how things were going, establishing Andrea effectively as the leading lady of Woodbury. Andrea would find herself willingly falling down the rabbit hole with each episode, tipsy on love… Until Andrea started to question the man himself after a bit too much conversing with home wrecker Michonne.

Though initially ignoring Michonne’s musings, eventually bit by bit Andrea started to be wary of some of The Governor’s methods. She could not bring herself to take out Philip at the request of others. Feeling closeness and affection to a man she believe could be reasoned with and changed for the better. Andrea would act as a mediator between the Woodbury and the ‘prison’ where her old friends resided. It would all be for naught however, as there would come a time when Andrea would need to show an undying loyalty toward The Governor that was not met.

Andrea would meet her end (despite being a major, major character in the comics) by the Governor primarily because in real life, then show runner Glen Mazzara thought it would be excellent genuine shock value for the show.

It could definitely be argued it made people believe anyone can go at any time on the show. However, actress Laurie Holden was signed for an 8 year contract at the time, and was not too happy in real life about what happened.
