There have been a lot of huge losses on The Walking Dead. While many of them were emotional moments or ones that led to characters getting more freedom or saving another’s life, the most powerful one happened pretty early in the series.
Rick killing Shane was a major turning point for both the main character of the series as well as changing the entire dynamic of the story. If Shane had not brought Rick out in the woods, so many things would never have happened.
Rick would not have known that the dead come back even if not bitten. Plus, the group learned early about how the apocalypse can change people who were good people at one time into people who just can’t co-exist with others.
Often, it is fun to think about how different the show would have been if Shane had killed Rick. He would have been a much different leader, and would have made much different decisions to head the show in a completely new direction.
