Mika Samuels

While the Samuels family are originally from Jacksonville, Florida, they joined the prison settlement during the gap between season 3 and season 4. During that time, they also lost their mother on their travels.
Mika, her sister Lizzie, and her father Ryan were all present when the flu started at the prison, but only the father got sick and succumbed to the illness. In his dying moments, he asked Carol to look after the girls.
Carol took that pledge seriously. Mika started looking up to her in a big way, really enjoying the time they spent together at story time. However, Lizzie was trying to tell her that the zombies weren’t bad, and they were just people who wanted to play.
In one of the most tragic moments of the series, Tyreese and Carol returned him from a scavenging mission to find that Lizzie had killed Mika to prove that she would come back and be her ‘friend’. Carol prevented her from coming back as a walker, but never got over not being able to keep Mika safe.
