The good stuff from Fear 301

  1. A thought provoking opening. Having the group being captured and sent in like cattle to be weighed and evaluated before being thrown in a cell and reunited is a pretty cool way to start off…but now we’re left to wonder how this all happened and why.
  2. Keeping Madison and Nick separated for now. The big drama is seeing Madison meet up with her son again, so saving that for a bigger payoff later, yet teasing it with Travis is a great move that reunion is much better served for the end of the episode, rather than the beginning.
  3. Travis begging for help for Luciana. He barely met her, yet he doesn’t want to see anyone die. He still has that part of humanity that makes him feel bad for others, which is something rarely seen in these zombie survival dramas. And with how important she seems to Nick, it is an even better move. Plus, giving himself up to give Nick and Luciana a chance to escape is almost unheard of in these zombie shows!
  4. Mickey from Shameless! I’m a huge fan of the Showtime series Shameless. Sadly, it took my buddy Clint to point out that one of the soldiers at the base played Mickey. It’s always nice to see great actors getting roles in other great shows. Spread that love around!
  5. Travis overcoming the odds in every way. Not only did he have to be strong to help others escape but he was able to be the reason Madison and Nick reunited and got out of that situation safely. Not to take anything away from Madison’s bold move, but this was a great Travis episode!
