Fear The Walking Dead Predictions: Broke Jaw Ranch isn’t the safe haven it appears to be
By Sonya Iryna
On Fear The Walking Dead the Clark family seems to have landed in a safe haven, but are they really safe at the Broke Jaw Ranch?
The next episode of Fear The Walking Dead is called “TEOTWAWKI”, an abbreviation for “the end of the world as we know it”. That title suggests that the Broke Jaw Ranch isn’t going to be the sanctuary that it seems to be from the outside. There’s already tension simmering between the Clarks and the Ottos. It could come to a head as soon as next episode.
Jeremiah Otto, the patriarch of the Otto clan and the leader of the ranch, seems to like Madison and her kids. But Troy has every reason to try and take revenge for Madison removing his eye with a spoon. It was already revealed by Jake Otto that Troy is a loose cannon with a penchant for violence. His experiments on prisoners at the border outpost show that he’s very much a danger to anyone around him.
Broke Jaw Ranch seems like an idyllic spot, but something seems off about the people at the ranch. Jeremiah is a quiet man but it’s clear from his demeanor that he’s no stranger to violence. Unlike his son Troy who responds to every provocation with violence Jeremiah seems like a man who weighs each action carefully. When he acts it will be with deliberate violence.
Madison doesn’t trust the Ottos. But she’s determined to keep the family together on the ranch. By force if necessary. Would the Clark family be able to take such an expansive operation by force? Madison and Alicia are tough, but Nick isn’t terribly reliable and Luciana is still healing. It’s not likely that they would win in a battle with the Ottos right now.
Where’s Ofelia?
At the end of Fear The Walking Dead season 2 Ofelia Salazar makes it back over the border into the US. But she’s taken prisoner by an apparent militia member that now has been revealed as Jeremiah Otto. Ofelia is probably on the ranch but being held prisoner, similar to the way that Troy Otto was keeping anyone that wasn’t white and American prisoner at the border outpost.
When Luciana is better the Ottos may try to put her wherever they are keeping Ofelia. Nick going in search of Luciana and finding Luciana and Ofelia being kept apart from the others could trigger a battle for control of the ranch.
Madison’s ready to throw down if things go bad. But the Ottos seem like a family that is pretty experienced in violence. Madison and her group of survivors may not be able to overthrow the Ottos.
Daniel Salazar Could Be The Game Changer
Strand is living off his wits right now. And it’s unclear if he’ll be reunited with the rest of the group at some point. But it’s a certainty that Daniel Salazar is coming back. The showrunner has already said that Daniel didn’t die in the fire in the cellar. He will definitely reappear.
If the Clarks and Luciana try to keep the uneasy peace that exists right now because they don’t have the strength to overthrow the Ottos Daniel returning would change the game. Daniel is a character who has plenty of experience with violence. Like Jeremiah Otto, he is perfectly capable of deliberate violence. Watching those two face off would be pretty interesting.
If Daniel ends up at Broke Jaw Ranch and finds Ofelia being held prisoner the Ottos better watch out. Daniel and Madison are a good team. Together Daniel and Madison could come up with a workable plan to take control of the ranch from the Ottos.
