Alicia makes some new friends at Bible study in Fear the Walking Dead “TEOTWAWKI.” What is their motivation for welcoming her to their group?

Now that Madison has decided that her family is going to make an effort to fit in at Broke Jaw Ranch, she wants her kids to make an effort to get to know people. Naturally, Nick is reluctant but Alicia, who has seen a lot since arriving in Mexico, knows that assimilation is important. In Fear the Walking Dead “TEOTWAWKI” Alicia makes some new friends in an unexpected place.

When Alicia receives an invitation from Gretchen to join the Christ Rising Bible study group at Broke Jaw Ranch, Alicia tries to make excuses about not being able to join, even going so far as to claim that she’s Jewish. However, upon arriving at the Bible study she realizes that this Bible study group is lit.

It’s not immediately clear where the Bible study group is meeting, but they have lots of supplies, a bong, some weed, some booze, and Geoff’s head in a birdcage. That would suggest that not many adults make it into their little clubhouse.

Gretchen is the one who extended the invitation to Alicia. Nick isn’t invited, even though the Bible study is a front for the ranch’s teenagers to get away and be kids. (Even Otto seems to have an inclination of what’s really happening at the Bible study) The group of teens reveal that many of them have been at the ranch for a long time while others arrived once the world fell apart. Their families knew of Otto and his prepper philosophy, so they were raised with his ideals.

The group is intrigued by Alicia because she comes from outside of the walls. These kids aren’t old enough to go on missions, so having someone their own age who can tell them what’s really happening is a huge benefit. When Alicia reveals that she has killed someone, they’re intrigued. Alicia uses her time with the group to get information from them as much as they spend their time asking her questions. (Through Geoff, of course)

Alicia gains a lot of respect among the group of teens, and this will help her family assimilate into the ranch because the teens will likely go home and report this information to their parents. They will be able to tell their parents that the Clarks might not have supplies, but they can fight, and this will go a long way should the ranch find itself under attack by the people who were shooting at the helicopter.

Fear the Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC.
