Audrey Parker on Facebook asks: “How long does it take to make a walker?”
It is interesting that you mention that, because that was the exact kind of research that was being done by Troy Otto and his men at the military base in the season 3 premiere of Fear The Walking Dead.
In fact, in episode 303 of FTWD, Troy revealed the calculated time it would take him to come back from the dead as a walker, proving that the research they did there was quite extensive when looking at nationality, age, weight, and other factors.
Of course, the answers vary wildly. While some can turn almost instantly, others take some time to rise from the dead. If we could only get a look at young Mr. Otto’s notebook and see the results of his studies, we’d know more information.
The best answer here is whenever it is convenient for the plot. While it’s great to have definitive times for these sorts of things, it’s best to just let the story be told and not buy too much into the smaller details of the situation and just enjoy the ride.
