The good stuff from Fear 305

  1. Gummy walker!  Watching Russell let his wife attempt to bite him and then using that to dance with her was a lovely farewell. Knowing that he didn’t want to live on with her, shooting himself in the head seemed like the only option. It was an interesting and powerful opening and really set a great tone for the episode.
  2. Strand and Daniel going head-to-head. Watching Strand continue to try to work his silver tongue on Daniel is a lot of fun. The two aren’t willing to take any kind of B.S. from each other and sooner or later something will have to give. It will be a lot of fun to watch as the series goes on, especially after Daniel stranded Strand at the hotel.
  3. The Jake/Alicia romance. It’s been hinted at a bit in the past, but watching the two interact in this episode only confirms the relationship between these two needs to continue to grow to be the Maggie/Glenn style from AMC’s flagship program.
  4. The dynamic between Jeremiah Otto and Nick Clark. While AMC’s zombie dramas always seem to have older people trying to educate or help younger people along, watching Jeremiah make Nick question nearly everything he has planned for the future was really interesting to watch. But just how deep into Nick’s head can he get?
  5. Back-to-back ‘holy crap’ moments. Finding the pile of burned bodies from Broke Jaw Ranch and then the bird eating the old man’s brain were a combination of unsettling moments which set the scene well for the introduction of a new group of characters. Hopefully, they can live up to the debut.
