The Broke Jaw Ranch lost some important members in Fear The Walking Dead episode 6 “Red Dirt”.

Fear The Walking Dead is definitely having the best season so far. The body count hasn’t been high. But the deaths that have occurred have been high impact. In episode 6, “Red Dirt” a panic at the ranch caused some families to leave the safety of the ranch, with predictable results.

After Madison, Troy and the militia members made it back from the outpost and revealed what happened some of the residents of the ranch were spooked. Including founding member Vernon Trimbol. Vernon and Jeremiah had been friends for decades. But Vernon no longer trusted Jeremiah’s leadership or the safety of the ranch.

Vernon took his wife, Kathy, and his kids Gretchen and Mike and left the ranch. They took some supplies and their two horses and left in an RV with a trailer. Troy saw this as a betrayal against the ranch. Mike was a trusted member of the militia and one of the few friends that Troy had.

When Jeremiah and Nick come across one of the Trimbol’s horses wandering around loose they and Madison go looking for the Trimbols knowing something went wrong. Together they find the RV on the road outside the ranch. There are bullet holes in the windshield.

Vernon and Kathy are dead and have turned inside the RV. Mike is dead outside the RV. His head was bashed in. And at the back of the RV they find three walkers inside the trailer eating the remaining horse alive. One of the walkers is Gretchen.

Who Killed The Trimbols

It wasn’t a surprise that the Trimbols didn’t make it. They were woefully unprepared for life outside of the ranch. Chances are good that they wouldn’t have lasted very long on their own. But the surprise was who fired the shots that killed them.

More from Undead Walking

Even though Madison used the deaths of the Trimbols to unify the remaining residents of the ranch and convince them that they need to stand together to fight Walker and the Native Americans it wasn’t Walker who killed the Trimbols.

Nick knew as soon as he looked at the RV it was Troy who killed the Trimbols. If Walker and his people had killed them they would have taken the horse, and the piles of supplies that the Trimbols had in the RV. Madison knew it too.

Troy killed the Trimbols for their betrayal and left them to turn. His unpredictability is going to be a real problem for the residents of the ranch as they try to marshal their forces to fight Walker and his group.
