2. Negan and Dwight Face Off

Heading into season 8 Dwight is one of the biggest assets that Rick has. Sure, nearly all the Alexandrians want to kill him. But he is the only inside link they have to what is going on in The Sanctuary. As one of the Negan’s high ranking Saviors he can pass on information about Negan’s plans to attack the settlements.

And he knows how Negan thinks and operates and can share those valuable insights with Rick to help the communities gain an advantage. He also did a great job framing Dr. Carson for Sherry’s flight from The Sanctuary.

But sooner or later Negan will figure out that Dwight isn’t on Team Saviors anymore. Maybe Dwight will slip up. Or maybe he will just outright flee Sanctuary to join Rick, Daryl and the others in Alexandria. But sooner or later these two are going to have a confrontation. Considering that Negan burned half of Dwight’s face off to punish him for disloyalty before it’s safe to assume that this time the punishment is going to be death. Probably a slow and vicious death.

But, Dwight’s managed to survive all this time and that means he has some sharply honed survival instincts. Even if he and Negan do get into a full-blown confrontation over Dwight’s betrayal and his alliance with Rick there’s a chance he could live through it and end up safely in Alexandria.

Whether or not Dwight would ever be truly safe around Daryl after killing Denise and taking Daryl and the other hostage remains to be seen
