#4. Jump Around

Cindy Ferguson on Facebook asks: “If a time jump is done on the show, how will the people be getting around? Pretty soon, the gas in the cars would be old, it’s hard to imagine that the cars would run.”

We’ve talked about gas before and how it would become a very scarce or hard to maintain resource. And that problem will only multiply if the hit AMC drama jumps ahead in time after the conclusion of All-Out War.

In the comics, cars stop running because of the gas issue and people start to rely on horses or old fashioned walking. But that doesn’t mean that the television show will follow suit, since they can always build wood or solid waste gasifiers and incorporate alternative fuel sources such as electric or biofuel cars.

Since the show does deviate from the comics, there are a lot of interesting things AMC could do to make the show a little different from the source material. Incorporating advancements in transportation would be a key one.

Then again, that would open up many other possibilities in the future aspects of the show that never existed in the comics, and that might be something that Robert Kirkman and AMC don’t really want to do.
