Colman Domingo is adapting his Philadelphia based play ‘Dot’ to AMC as series ‘In the Middle of the Street’. Victor Strand is clearly a man of many hats.

According to Deadline.com, Colman Domingo is currently in the early stages of adapting his play ‘Dot’ to AMC as new show ‘In the Middle of the Street’. The play, which centers around a West Philadelphia middle class family, originally premiered Off Broadway at New York’s Vineyard Theater.

Themes tackled range from Alzheimers’ memory loss and the family’s denial of the fact to the necessities that come with a marriage. When one wants to settle and start a family of their own while the other wants to remain untamed and free.

Though the subjects are clearly serious at the core, ‘Dot’ handles them with playful humor. Domingo who penned the play’s script will be serving as the AMC version’s Executive Producer. Also announced as Executive Producer on the project, Alisa Tager, known for 2001 film Enemy at the Gates and 1997’s Seven Years in Tibet.

Also currently announced as guest stars Peggy Lee, Eartha Kitt, Betty Hutton, and Billy Preston.

Director Patricia McGregor promises the relationship between musicians Nat King Cole and Sammy Davis Jr. will be central to the production.
