The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has a new docuseries on AMC
By Sonya Iryna
Robert Kirkman will be discussing The Walking Dead and the history of comics and culture in a new 6 part docuseries Heroes And Villains for AMC’s Visionaries.
Fans of The Walking Dead know that Robert Kirkman loves comics. As a fan of both the genre and the art that goes into making comics he’s the perfect choice to discuss both in a new docuseries for AMC.
Heroes And Villains is part of the AMC Visionaries series. Visionaries is an anthology series where leaders in media discuss the history of and the inspiration behind some of the media genres that have traditionally been outliers in popular culture.
In the 6 part docuseries Heroes and Villains Kirkman will talk about the evolution of comics. He will also cover the impact of comics on pop culture. Kirkman won’t be shying away from the big topic of race and gender in comics either.
According to Deadline Kirkman will be diving deep into topics related to comic history and creation. The series, he promises, will have something for everyone from the most devout collector to someone just discovering comics.

The Walking Dead, Race And Gender
The Walking Dead comic and TV show are both progressive in the horror and science fiction genres because of the way that women, people of color, and LGBT people are represented. The women of The Walking Dead are more than just eye candy. They fight hard and are capable of saving themselves and the people they love.
The Walking Dead has taken some criticism in the past for killing off both of Tara’s girlfriends. And relegating Tara, the only lesbian character on the show, to a background role. But overall the show stands out for its representation of groups that are usually marginalized within the worlds of horror and science fiction.
