Michael Rooker, fan favorite alumni of The Walking Dead franchise, gets groovy in a music video for his new franchise Guardians of the Galaxy.

Who knew Merle Dixon was so groovy, baby? Michael Rooker joins director James Gunn and members of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cast for a groovy 1970s-inspired music video starring none other than David Hasselhoff.

“Guardians Inferno” is a retro-inspired music video starring some of the members of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 cast as background dancers. Michael Rooker has a wig and a soul patch, and he gets his boogie on in the music video that already has over a half million hits on You Tube. Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Chris Pratt and a few other stars make appearances in the super fun music video that captures the fun of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

Here is a look at the “Guardians Inferno” music video:

The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, like The Walking Dead, has a lovable cast of characters that clearly enjoy their work. Rooker has transitioned from Daryl Dixon’s troubled brother Merle to the over the top blue alien Yondu in the Guardians franchise.

Rooker’s character Guardians captured fan attention when Yondu was seen to float down from the sky like Mary Poppins, uttering the now-famous line “I’m Mary Poppins, y’all.” He even found Mary Poppins at Disneyland and posed for a picture with her.

Blue Mary Poppins cosplayers can now be seen at fan conventions all over and there’s even a push for Michael Rooker to have a cameo in the upcoming Mary Poppins sequel.
