The Walking Dead: March to War mobile game is coming later this summer, and it’s the perfect way to bide your time until the the series returns.

During San Diego Comic Con I had a chance to sit down with the people at Disruptor Beam, the makers of The Walking Dead: March to War mobile game. In typical me fashion, I asked to watch the game being played instead of playing it myself, mainly because I get too caught up in games to be able to pay attention to anything other than game play. I’m glad I did, because this game has a lot to take in.

The Walking Dead: March to War is a visually stunning story-driven game that takes place just before the events of The Walking Dead March to War (Volume 19) and All Out War (Volume 20). Game play is based around the core group of characters that you’ll recognize from The Walking Dead graphic novels: Rick, Negan, Andrea, Carl, Jesus, and Michonne are just a few of the key players. There is also an original character, Amira, who helps guide players on their missions.

In order to be successful, players must recruit council members to help guide their missions. The council members are the characters from the graphic novels, and the rest of the team is made up of unique characters who all have their own stories and backgrounds.

Once the teams are assembled, it’s up to you to train everyone and decide which mission you want to undertake. Your team is constantly under threat of Walker attacks or raids from other groups in the vast community of players competing for the same resources you’re looking for. The mission is to accumulate supplies to help your group survive.

The game is set in Washington, D.C. and the attention to detail that make the game fun and exciting. With fallen monuments like the White House and changes in weather, like the fog that rolls in on occasion, the game is always changing. The game has a similar look and feel of the comics, giving it a gritty and visceral vibe.

Fans of The Walking Dead comics will appreciate the faithfulness of the storyline and the game’s overall look while fans of the show will enjoy the fact that it’s another way to interact with the world of The Walking Dead.
