Fear The Walking Dead’s Mercedes Mason is pregnant

Fear The Walking Dead’s Mercedes Mason announced that she and her husband are expecting a baby boy.

Congratulations are in order for Fear The Walking Dead star Mercedes Mason. She announced that she and her husband, David Denman, are expecting a baby boy on Instagram.

Ofelia was MIA for the entire first half of the current season of Fear The Walking Dead but came back in a big way as a member of Walker’s group. Her allegiance to Walker put her in direct conflict with Madison, Nick and Alicia after she poisoned the members of the militia with Anthrax.

To be fair, Ofelia thought that she was putting sleeping pills in the coffee for the people at Broke Jaw Ranch and only later learned it was Anthrax. But, as a result many people on the ranch died and her relationship with the Clarks’ may not be broken beyond repair.

Now that Walker and his group will be moving onto the ranch there will inevitably be tension between Ofelia and Madison, Nick and Alicia. Ofelia is loyal to Walker because he rescued her when she was dying in the desert after Jeremiah Otto turned her away.

This Doesn’t Mean Ofelia Is A Goner

The first question Fear The Walking Dead fans asked after Mason announced the pregnancy was if this means that Ofelia will die. Not necessarily. Of course on Fear TWD just like on The Walking Dead no character is ever truly safe. The surprise death of Travis early on in the season proved that life is just as precarious in the Fear The Walking Dead as it is in The Walking Dead world.

But Mason isn’t the first actress in TWD TV series universe to get pregnant but remain on the show. On The Walking Dead Christian Serratos, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Alanna Masterson all had children while still working on the show.

So hopefully fans won’t be saying goodbye to Ofelia just yet. Since she just returned after being absent for the first half of the season it would be nice if she didn’t die quite yet. Ofelia still has a pretty big role to play as the residents of Broke Jaw Ranch learn to live with Walker’s survivor group.

And it would be devastating if Ofelia died before she was reunited with her father Daniel Salazar who she thinks is dead. Fear The Walking Dead returns for the second half of the season on September 10th
