Fans may remember Austin Abrams as Ron Anderson on AMC’s The Walking Dead, but they can also see him on the Showtime series SMILF in a recurring role.

It has been a while since walkers invaded Alexandria during season 5 of the The Walking Dead. Rick Grimes and his group were still relatively new to the community, yet were taking on leadership roles while others looked up to them for guidance.

One character who never looked up to Rick or saw eye-to-eye was Ron Anderson. The young man played by actor Austin Abrams was a catalyst for the tension between Alexandria and Rick’s group, even making a lasting mark on the series with one pull of a trigger.

Ron Anderson may not be on AMC’s zombie survival drama series any longer, but fans can still watch the excellent young actor in his new role on the Showtime series SMILF, as reported by TVLine recently.

More from Undead Walking

With a series premiere on Sunday, November 5, 2017, SMILF tells the story of a single mother in her 20’s named Bridgette living South Boston trying to balance her work, social life, and family and is based on a Sundance Film Festival Jury Award-winning short film from Frankie Shaw.

In SMILF, Abrams will play Casey. Casey is the son of Ally, played by Connie Britton who is best known for her recent role as Rayna James on Nashville, but also was one of the stars of the first season of American Horror Story as well as a long-running role on Friday Night Lights in addition to being part of 24, The West Wing, Family Guy, The West Wing, and Spin City.

Showtime is banking on SMILF as being a comedy to add to their block with popular raunchy and hilarious show Shameless. Interestingly enough, Abrams has appeared in an episode of Shameless where he played Henry McNally, a conniving person taking advantage of Debbie Gallagher.
