#2. Cut the boy’s other eye out

Misty Davis on Facebook asks: “Is Carl ever going to remove the bandage? Get and eye patch or something???”

There is some good news and some bad news. Carl Grimes will eventually have his eye heal enough to be able to let it air out, but he will never be able to completely leave the eye uncovered for several reasons.

Carl is very insecure about his eye in the comics. He often keeps it covered because he doesn’t want to gross people out or make others uncomfortable. However, he does have the ability to wear shaded sunglasses at times when it isn’t bandaged.

Personally, I’d love to see The Walking Dead give Carl a pirate-style eye patch, but I don’t think they want him to seem too much like The Governor in appearance. Carl is already having a hard enough time becoming embraced by fans that reminding them of a major villain isn’t the best way to go.

But, rest assured, that there will be issues addressed with Carl’s eye and he will have someone helping him to overcome his insecurities about it. However, with focus being on the war right now, that kind of dialogue will have to wait.
