9. Jake And Troy Otto Are Going To Clash

There’s also going to be a lot of tension between the Otto brothers. Old sibling rivalry will rise to the surface now that Jeremiah is gone. But also the two brothers have very different visions of what the future of the ranch should look like.

Jake Otto has always favored a more diplomatic approach to solving problems on the ranch. He keeps in mind the bigger picture of what the ranch could be in the future. Things like art and education matter to him. He wants to see the ranch become the foundation of a new society now that the old one has crumbled. His vision of the ranch incorporates some of Jeremiah’s hopes that the ranch would be a chance for people to fix what was wrong with the old society as he saw it.

But Troy Otto doesn’t see the big picture. He’s focused on simply keeping the ranch going and keeping the people on it alive. As long as they don’t cross him. His murder of the Trimbols shows that as much as tries to keep his demons in check he really doesn’t have a hold of them. His erratic and emotion based actions definitely put the ranch at risk. Especially now that Walker’s group is moving in Troy is going to have a hard time being the stable leader that the ranch needs.

If Troy feels like Jake betrayed him then Troy will go after Jake. Both brothers feel like they are the best leader for the ranch. And with Alicia backing and manipulating Jake and Madison backing and manipulating Troy there’s no doubt these two are going to clash at some point. Despite their connection as brothers the fight for leadership of the Broke Jaw Ranch is going to tear these two apart.
