#3. Simon says switch?

Misty Davis on Facebook asks: “I recently read something about Simon possibly switching sides during the war something to do with it being all about survival and although he is supposedly Negan’s right hand man he is actually just doing what he has to in order to survive… do you think that story arc will be possible or was it perhaps more misdirection by TWD team?”

I actually have not heard this theory. The possibility of Simon jumping ship from The Saviors to help out Rick and the gang in season 8 of the AMC program seems like a huge longshot for several reasons.

First of all, Simon seems to really like his position of power. Watching his interactions with Gregory at The Hilltop and Rick in Alexandria should let everyone know he’s very comfortable being Negan’s second in command and is living a comfortable lifestyle there.

Next, he doesn’t really have a reason to defect. So far, he’s shown no signs of even wanting to switch sides in this war, even belittling both Gregory and Rick when meeting them. He would likely NOT be accepted in any community.

Finally, with Dwight already defecting and Eugene still a bit of a wild card, there is still plenty of betrayal around the corner for The Saviors that Simon won’t need to be jumping sides any time soon, if ever.
