4) You can’t let go of the undead.

Simply put, this is when a person keeps a zombie of someone they cared about: A friend, a lover, a family member, a child, etc.

It is most likely that if you suffer from this, you either aren’t realizing or aren’t admitting that this is a problem. If it’s the former, this is probably because you don’t believe or won’t accept the fact that your loved one…is dead.

Death is never easy to accept, even less so when in a zombie apocalypse, where being “dead” won’t mean too much when you have a bunch of corpses wandering around, but, that should be your first clue there’s a problem: The corpse of your loved one is wandering around.

Now, obviously, if you don’t believe they’re dead, merely sick or crazed, this is normal, so, I’ve come up with some guidelines to determine whether they’re just sick.

1) What color is their skin? Because, if it’s gray, yeah, that’s a bad sign. Living people are not GRAY!

2) Are they eating things that might normally make them sick (Raw chicken for example) and not getting sick?

3) Are they taking or do they have wounds that should be killing them? I don’t care how much bath salts someone’s on: If their neck is barely hanging on, or there’s a huge gash taken out of their torso, or a gaping wound in their chest, that person is DEAD.

4) Are they decaying? I mean…what else is there for me to ask? If the answer is “Yes”, then…duh, they’re decaying! You can’t get much more dead than literally rotting as you walk around!

If your loved one(s) are exhibiting any of these telltale signs, it’s time to put them in their final resting place. No amount of medicine or time is going to cure their condition. What they have, you can’t cure, because, you can’t cure “dead”. It’s that simple.

Now, as I said earlier, getting over the death of a loved one, especially in a zombie apocalypse, isn’t easy.

That said, the sooner you accept that loved one(s) is dead, the better off you’ll be. The sooner the mourning process begins, the sooner it can conclude. I can’t tell you a method to make it easier, but, I can tell you that keeping them around as a walking corpse is not the way to do it.

The sooner they’re resting in peace, the sooner you will achieve peace.
