11) Scalping and the Crows

Walker goes the extra mile, instead of simply ending his opponent’s life, he relishes in making them suffer needlessly. His gruesome acts first revealed when a high standing member of Otto’s ranch is discovered with a crow dining on his brain while alive. Then later when Jake Otto visits Walker trying to make peace between the two sides, only to find his scalp almost cut off. Walker begins to cut in with his machete despite Otto’s cries to give him a chance to make things right, only to stop because of Ofelia. Particularly, her look of disgust, worry and disappointment.

Walker takes back the machete, leaving Jake with an enduring scar but his life intact. Whether Walker is on the side of justice or not, he is shown to be a man with no mercy for his perceived enemies but compassion for those closest. Jake is lucky Ofelia happened to be there or it would have been the end, just as his brother Troy had warned him about.
