Fear the Walking Dead’s Debnam-Carey in ‘Friend Request’
During The Walking Dead season 8 premiere special fans got a look at Fear the Walking Dead’s Alycia Debnam-Carey in the upcoming film “Friend Request.”
Fear the Walking Dead star Alycia Debnam-Carey took a break from fighting the Infected to face a terrifying spirit in Friend Request. Fans got a look at the new movie during The Walking Dead season 8 preview on AMC.
Friend Request follows Laura Woodson (Debnam-Carey) who meets another girl at school. Upon searching her social media, Laura finds that Marina Mills has no friends on Facebook and yet she decides not to accept her friend request.
Chaos ensues.
It would seem that Friend Request follows along in a new genre of horror themed around social media. Laura’s decision not to follow this girl from school leads to her accounts being hacked by a vengeful spirit using witchcraft who is intent on ruining Laura’s life. Laura is framed by the possessed social media accounts as they make it look like she’s the one posting images of Marina’s death.
Kicking butt under pressure is not exactly a big turn for Debnam-Carey, given that she fights possessed Facebook accounts the way she fights Infected on Fear the Walking Dead. But the movie is a big deal for the actress as she takes the lead and has top billing on the feature film, which hits just in time for the Halloween season.
Debnam-Carey’s Alicia has really come into her own on Fear the Walking Dead, taking on a leadership role as her mother continues to make questionable decisions. She and Jake could become the new power couple of the apocalypse given their current relationship.

Friend Request opens September 22 and you can catch Alycia Debnam-Carey in the second half of Fear the Walking Dead season 3 Sundays at 9pm on AMC.
