Fear The Walking Dead: Who died in the midseason premiere?
By Sonya Iryna
Fear The Walking Dead managed to pull off quite a feat in the season 3B midseason premiere. The premiere consisted of two episodes back to back. And no one really died in either episode but the episodes were still riveting.
In The Walking Dead universe isn’t not easy to maintain intensity and story quality without any major deaths. And usually if there is going to be a big death it’s going to come in either the premiere, midseason premiere, finale or midseason finale.
Earlier in Fear The Walking Dead season 3 Travis was killed off in the premiere. That death put the storyline for the entire season in motion because it landed Madison, Nick and Alicia at Broke Jaw Ranch.
While there were no major deaths and not many walker kills either there were some very close calls for some of the primary characters.
Nick And Troy
In the first episode of the midseason premiere “Minotaur” Troy decided to try and take down a contingent from The Nation including Walker and also tried to take out Madison. When the group came to take his weapons Troy wasn’t giving them up without a fight. Troy got a blade through his hand and almost got killed in a hail of gunfire.
Nick almost killed when he told Troy that Jeremiah Otto didn’t commit suicide. When Nick told Troy that he had killed Troy’s father Troy almost killed him. But being Troy, he kind of respected that and let Nick live. Unpredictability is Troy’s most consistent characteristic.
Madison And Troy
When Troy was exiled from the ranch he attacked the guard that with him and Madison and killed him. Then he turned on Madison. But he’s tried to kill Madison before and something always stops him. This time was no different. Madison pulled her gun on Troy but couldn’t pull the trigger.
Strand
In the second episode of the Fear The Walking Dead season premiere Madison finds Strand in trouble at The Bazaar. So she jumps in to help and almost kills two men who are holding Strand prisoner. She could have been put to death for that by the security forces at The Bazaar. But once again she managed to skirt death and she took Strand with her.

More Story, Less Death
One of the biggest criticisms of Fear The Walking Dead has been that it lacked story and character development. Season 3 is proving that the show is stepping up its game when it comes to quality storytelling. The two episodes of the midseason premiere were so interesting that fans won’t mind the lack of killing. There was still plenty of action and more of the intense story telling and character development that has made season 3 of Fear The Walking Dead the best season of the show yet.
