There was a lot of new information released about The Walking Dead season 8 in the recent Talking Dead preview special. Including some great news for Carol fans.

Rejoice Carol fans! According to Scott Gimple on Talking Dead’s The Walking Dead season 8 preview special Carol is back in a big way in season 8.

For most of season 7, Carol was traumatized. She chose to leave the Alexandria group after the slaughter of The Saviors and the events in “The Same Boat”. And she seemed relatively happy living in the small house just outside the gates of The Kingdom. She and King Ezekiel have a good understanding of each other and he let her “leave but not leave”.

But that couldn’t last. When Daryl found Carol at the Kingdom she knew that something was very wrong at Alexandria. She didn’t want to know at first, afraid of what she would do if something had happened to one of the people that she loved.

But when Morgan told her what happened to Glenn and Abe Carol knew she couldn’t sit on the sidelines anymore. Even if it costs her the rest of her humanity Carol will get justice for Glenn’s death. As one of the original Atlanta survivors with Glenn, there is no way Carol is going to let Negan and The Saviors live after they killed Glenn in such a terrible way.

Scott Gimple said on Talking Dead that not only will Carol be more present in The Walking Dead season 8 she will be in full on warrior mode. He said that it will be quite exciting to see Carol ready for war.

Battle Carol Is Ready For All Out War

It’s hard to imagine that the Carol fans know and love today is the same mousey, meek and cowering woman who was introduced back in season 1. Carol’s journey from abused housewife and mother to a capable and calculating killer has been totally improbable yet wonderful to watch.

Of all the survivors at Alexandria Carol is probably the most adaptable. No matter what situations she’s been thrown into throughout the last 7 seasons she’s managed to come out alive. In some ways, her past has prepared her for the apocalypse more than any other character.

Because of her relationship with Ed, she’s learned how to adapt quickly to any situation. And many abused women and children develop the ability to instantly read a situation and read a person. It’s a survival behavior that enables them to decide if they need to talk that person down, attack, or run away.

Carol’s survival instincts were well-honed even before the apocalypse began. She just didn’t know then how strong and capable she really is. Despite everything that she’s done for the group over the years the other survivors probably don’t even realize how strong she is. It will be exciting indeed to see how The Saviors deal with Carol now that she’s ready for war. They’re in for some big surprises when All Out War kicks off on The Walking Dead.
