Fear the Walking Dead: It’s a great big world of preppers
In the sneak peek of Fear the Walking Dead “Brother’s Keeper” Jake and Alicia talk about the world beyond Broke Jaw Ranch. It’s a big, big world out there.
One of the most intriguing aspects of Fear the Walking Dead’s third season has been seeing life inside the world of “doomsday preppers.” Jeremiah Otto and his friends created their own world that would be safe from outside intrusion should they face the collapse of society. Jeremiah’s boys, Jake and Troy, grew up in those worlds. In the sneak peek of episode 312, “Brother’s Keeper,” Jake tells Alicia that there are more groups of preppers all over the country, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.
While Troy remained home to learn survival techniques, which suited his personality and skillset, big brother Jake was sent out into the world to go to law school. Nevertheless, Jake is a prepper at heart and he knows how to survive, which is why his comments to Alicia are so interesting.
Could the Four Horsemen of Broke Jaw Ranch have entered into an arrangement with the other groups of preppers, that in the event of mass societal collapse that they should meet up at a designated point in time?
Or is Jake angling to get the heck out of Dodge and go to one of the other places he’s talking about?
Clearly, Alicia and Jake have built a strong relationship that seems to go beyond pragmatism. Whereas before she might have fostered her relationship out of strategic necessity, now it looks as though Alicia genuinely cares about Jake. This isn’t surprising since he’s the most normal person in her life these days.
