Dwight

Dwight has done some terrible things, there’s no doubt. But still he’s a sympathetic character and fans would love to see Dwight find some redemption. Now that his backstory has been revealed it makes more sense why he’s done the things he’s done. Dwight paid a terrible price for his attempt to leave with Sherri and her sister. In addition to being burned in the face with an iron by Negan his wife agreed to leave him and become part of Negan’s harem. And then she set Daryl free and ran, leaving Dwight behind.

Dwight could be the one to turn the tide of the war by helping Rick and the others get inside The Sanctuary and get close enough to kill or capture Negan. So there’s still some hope for Dwight despite the awful things he’s done, like killing Denise.

Austin Amelio had this to say about what he hopes to see happen for Dwight as The Walking Dead moves forward:

"“I guess coming from the fan perspective, they really want to see me and my wife get back together and me find her. I think that would be a really vulnerable moment for Dwight and it would kind of complete the audience’s fantasy of them coming back together. So that would be cool if somehow we reconvened and had a moment. That would be nice.”"

Fans want that too. It would be a great end to Dwight’s story arc if he could somehow find Sherri and reunite with her. And if he does help the communities win the war against Negan it will be a lot easier to forgive some of the other things he’s done.
