The Walking Dead star Andy Lincoln warned fans that some fan favorites may not make it out of All Out War.

The Walking Dead season 8 premieres in just a couple of weeks and fans are excited. But fans might be in for some heartbreak according to Andrew Lincoln and Scott Gimple.

Andrew Lincoln told Entertainment Weekly during the SiriusXM The Walking Dead Town Hall at NYCC that big deaths are coming in season 8 of The Walking Dead. That means there’s a very strong chance that some fan favorites will end up being casualties of war.

After losing Abe and Glenn in the season 7 premiere it feels too soon to lose more of the beloved The Walking Dead characters. But as Robert Kirkman has said over and over no one is safe and characters can be killed off at any time. Even the characters fans love the most like Rick, Michonne, Daryl and Carol aren’t safe.

Scott Gimple also told EW that fans need to be prepared for big deaths in season 8. He said:

"“In the book, ‘All-Out War,’ all things being said, there weren’t a ton of major characters that died,” he says about the comic book source material on which season 8 will be based. “But I will say, when death came to narrative when we were making this, people were pretty shocked by it, and there are some very difficult times for the heroes ahead — though in unexpected ways. Almost, strangely unexpected even in the midst of a narrative called ‘All-Out War.’ There are some big deaths this season, but I think they’ll possibly catch people by surprise.”"

Who Could Fall During All Out War

As Alexandria and the other communities prepare for war the odds are pretty good that any of them could end up dying during the war. All Out War is going to push the survivors into battles that they’ve never had to face before. And both sides are going to fighting not just to win control, but to stay alive.

Robert Kirkman has said many times that even Rick Grimes isn’t immune to death. But the odds of Rick dying during All Out War are probably slim. Rick’s story is far from over. There’s also a strong chance that Maggie and Jesus from The Hilltop will survive.

In the San Diego Comic-Con trailer for The Walking Dead season 8, Father Gabriel was having a pretty tense confrontation with Negan. So possibly Father Gabriel won’t make it through All Out War alive. Eugene, Rosita, and Aaron are also wild cards.
