#1. Consistency in the zombie apocalypse
Deb Rehnberg on Facebook asks: “Why did teddy bear girl pick up the teddy bear but no other walkers stop & pick up stuff?”
Let’s be honest, the first season of The Walking Dead was a bit of an incoherent mess. Despite having some powerful scenes and setting the stage for the epic story following the survivors, inconsistencies were hard to overlook.
Summer picking up the teddy bear, walkers picking up rocks to smash against a glass door, and a zombie trying to use a doorknob to open a door were all things that AMC’s popular zombie drama wants fans to forget about.
In fact, the show went a long way to make sure that fans knew that the living dead forget all their memories after showing those scenes from season 1, hoping that they would become a thing of the past that would never be revisited.
The zombies are now mindless eating machines, which is better for the show since they aren’t able to open doors or pick up weapons. It makes individual walkers much less of a threat, and I wouldn’t expect to see any undead picking up anything other than food in the near future.
