Fear the Walking Dead episode 314 shows us that Madison is sinking fast. Are we seeing Madison Clark at the lowest point yet?

Love her or hate her, Madison Clark has been through a lot in her life. From surviving abuse as a child to losing her partner after finding him again in the middle of the apocalypse, she has been through the ringer. Until this point she has been weathering the storm, but her resolve is slipping. It’s more than slipping, honestly. Her resolve is in a messy pile at her feet. Are we seeing Madison Clark at her lowest point?

The answer, in a nutshell, would seem to be Yes. Yes, we are.

The illusion of Madison’s carefully ordered world was shattered upon returning to Broke Jaw Ranch and finding it overrun with Infected. Madison was able to rescue Strand and broker a deal for water with Daniel and Lola. She thought she was returning to the same ranch she left, but the ranch was gone.

Her relationships with her kids have changed, too. After Alicia’s horrible ordeal in the storage pantry, Madison thought her family would move on together to the dam, but she did not think that Alicia would need some time alone. She sent Nick after Alicia, and she started off for the dam without her kids. Nick returned with Troy, but Alicia would not come back. Not yet.

Then Madison lost Ofelia. They didn’t know she’d been bitten, and once they knew they did everything they could to save her but it wasn’t enough. Ofelia died in Madison’s arms and had to shoulder the brunt of Daniel’s anger when he got there too late to see his daughter.

But when Daniel offers her shelter at the dam, Madison realizes she has nothing to barter with. She asks, rather meekly, if the others can come with her and is relieved when Daniel says yes. The final kick comes when Nick wants to stay behind at the market with Troy, and Madison has to leave both of her kids on their own while she moves on.

Every move Madison has made so far has worked out even though she often makes bad decisions in the process. But now the tide is turning against her. She can’t force her kids to follow her, which forces her to reconsider the decisions she’s making. After all this time and all that she has been through, Madison is at a low point. This is perhaps her lowest point.

How will Madison recover? Will she let someone else take control at this point, or will she keep going? Let us know what you think in the comments!
