Who died in the Fear The Walking Dead season 3 finale episodes?
By Sonya Iryna
Fear The Walking Dead capped off the best season yet with a heart-pounding 2-hour finale. But there were some pretty shocking deaths along the way.
In the massive 2 hour season 3 finale of Fear The Walking Dead there wasn’t a dull moment. Packed with action, the two-episode finale was also unfortunately packed with death.
There were several surprising deaths in “Bad Things Begun” and “Sleigh Ride” including some popular characters. Some other characters were left with their fates up in the air and given how many major characters died this season it’s anything but certain that they will be alive when season 4 starts.
Daniel was almost killed by Strand who shot him in the face, but Daniel managed to survive. Unfortunately, Efrain and Lola did not. The Queen of The Water went out like a boss though, firing at The Proctors who took over the dam. She took out several of them before Proctor John killed her. Efrain was killed in the dam takeover when The Proctors entered the dam thanks to Strand’s sabotage.
Nick’s life was in danger several times during the episodes. But one of the most shocking was when Daniel threatened to torture him if Nick didn’t tell him the truth about who led the herd to the ranch that resulted in Ofelia’s death. In the end, Nick’s fate was up in the air literally after he blew up the dam.
Troy Otto
Troy Otto started out a really intense villain. But over the course of the season as his backstory was revealed and more of his character emerged he was also a sympathetic character. Even though he was a loose cannon he and Nick formed a tight bond and he looked at Madison as a mother figure. Despite his demons, he was a strong and capable fighter willing to risk anything. In the post-apocalypse world, that kind of person could be an asset.
When they were wiring the dam with C4 in case they had to blow it up Troy and Madison seemed to be willing to let bygones be bygones. And yet, when Troy started indulging his inner demons during their conversation Madison killed him with two blows to the head with a hammer. Madison’s ability to coldly kill is always disturbing.
Troy Otto emerged as one of the most interesting characters that Fear The Walking Dead created. Racist, violent, but strangely compelling it’s a shame that Troy’s journey came to an end tonight.

Madison
After Nick blew the dam Alicia, Madison and Strand got swept up in the river as it was released from the constraints of the dam. Madison got knocked out of the boat and very nearly drowned. As she was underwater her strange fantasy of the ranch and the people she’s killed and the ranchers who died continued but Travis appeared.
Presumably, Travis appeared to pull her into death if she was ready to cross over and let go of the post-apocalypse world. But she pulled away from him, opened her eyes underwater, and swam to the surface. Madison has a lot of flaws but no one can ever say she isn’t the ultimate survivor. She will do whatever it takes including killing to survive.
But is she strong enough to pay the cost of that ability to survive? Her weird visions show that the weight of all the death she’s caused and the things she’s done are very much on her mind even if she appears to be stoic about it.

Season 4 of Fear The Walking Dead
Big changes are ahead for Fear The Walking Dead. Season 3 was a turning point for the show. This season was by far the best season the show has produced. Showrunner Dave Erickson has moved on to other projects at AMC. So there will be a new showrunner for season 4. And Scott Gimple, showrunner of The Walking Dead, will be joining Fear The Walking Dead as an executive producer.
