Ofelia

Ofelia might be the easiest person to cover on this list.

As I’m sure we all know by now, Ofelia poisoned the Broke Jaw militia as well as several other ranchers with Anthrax, killing many of them. And while this is quite terrible, Ofelia is largely blameless in the whole affair.

While she used the Anthrax, she was quite unaware of what the substance actually was.

One could argue that she shouldn’t have agreed to poison anyone in the first place, but, regardless, if you’re going to do it, and you’re led to believe all you’re doing is giving someone something like…ipecac, can you really be blamed for being lied to about what it was you were administering?

I think not.

Of course, Ofelia, being raised to be a good Catholic by her mother, and, by this point, knowing some of the sins of her father, was wracked with guilt over her part in so much death. She was horrified to think of all the innocent people she caused to suffer such agonizing deaths, and found the anger many of the ranchers had towards her quite justified.

So, when the situation at the ranch took a turn for the worse and a horde swept in, forcing everyone into the ranch’s bunker, which was quickly running out of oxygen, Ofelia took the opportunity to make amends for her actions.

With Alicia and Blake busy dealing with those who were bit when the horde arrived, plus trying to keep the remaining survivors calm, someone needed to go inside the ventilation shaft and remove whatever was blocking the fan. Enter Ofelia.

Along with Crazy Dog, Ofelia crawled through the claustrophobic vent and found their way to the source:  A rogue infected jamming the fan.

With help from Crazy Dog, Ofelia dislodged the offending walker and dispatched it, but not before it fell on top of her in the process.

Sadly, this incident would prove fatal. During the altercation, the infected bit her on the shoulder, condemning her to certain death, but, not before she saved Alicia’s life. Ofelia’s willingness to risk herself to save others easily makes her the most redeemable “villain” (If you can even call her that) of Season Three of Fear The Walking Dead.
